Gentle YAG
Frequently Asked Gentle YAG Questions
What is GentleYAG?
GentleYAG is a non-invasive laser treatment that tightens the skin by penetrating heat into the deepest layers of the skin. The skin responds by stimulating collagen, elastin and other proteins, diminishing wrinkles and sagging skin. GentleYAG can also be used to treat skin discoloration, age spots, freckles, broken capillaries, mottled pigmentation, leg vein treatment, unwanted hair removal and some symptoms of rosacea. Aside from the face, this treatment can be used effectively on other parts of the body including the neck, chest, and the hands.
What are the advantages of the GentleYAG procedure?
Many cosmetic procedures require numerous treatments and sometimes major surgery to remove facial flaws. Conventional cosmetic procedures traditionally treat only one condition at a time and require lengthy recovery periods, are higher risk, involve potential side effects and can be painful. The GentleYAG procedure provides wrinkle reduction and skin tightening safely, quickly, effective, requiring less healing time and is significantly less expensive than surgical procedures.
How is the GentleYAG procedure performed?
The targeted areas are marked within a grid using a white marker. Before using the laser beam, a technician sprays short bursts of a cooling cryogen spray to protect the outer layer of the skin. If the patient feels any discomfort, a topical anesthetic can be applied. The GentleYAG laser light pulses a high intensity light within the marked area penetrating deeply into the skin. The gentle laser causes a deep heating of the tissues and contracts the skin. The patient may experience a slight stinging sensation similar to the snapping of a rubber band.
How long does the treatment take?
A single session can be completed within 30 minutes. The patient may need a total of 3 to 4 monthly treatments depending on the severity of the condition. By dividing the full program into several treatments, the patient can expect gradual improvements with very low risk.
Are there any side effects?
A few hours after the treatment, the skin may be slightly swollen and pink in color. No downtime is expected after the procedure. The patient should avoid sun tanning as recommended by the attending physician.
How long does it take to see results?
Some patients report significant improvement within days following treatment. Optimum results are revealed within 4 to 6 weeks.
