Maintaining your vision

Your vision, like any other aspect of health, requires special care and attention. Many people take good vision for granted, and never step foot in an eye care center until there is a problem. Unfortunately, some eye diseases have no symptoms and vision damage cannot be restored once it is done. However, most eye conditions are able to be successfully managed if they are caught before permanent damage has been done to the eye.

With eye care, Dr. Huynh and his team believe all adults should be proactive. If you wear glasses or contacts and only visit your ophthalmologist once your prescription changes, you may be short-changing yourself on necessary, preventative eye care. If you have maintained a stable prescription for years and have not been in for a thorough eye evaluation, you are encouraged to schedule one soon to make sure your eyes are healthy. If you are not experiencing any vision problems, an exam is recommended a minimum of every two years, or every year to be extra cautious.

Symptoms of eye problems:

  • Blurry vision
  • Color distortion
  • Eye pain or discomfort
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Eye irritation
  • Eyelid redness or swelling
  • Light flashes
  • Dry eyes
  • Central vision or peripheral vision loss
  • Headaches
  • Floaters
